Njukudel village in Plateau's potato producing Bokkos local government area is set to make history as one of the few Nigerian communities to have provided its own electricity.

The dream which began four years ago with a community fundraising program in that regard has reached appreciable level of completion.

The community had reportedly provided N1m as counterpart funding for the project to the state rural development agency.

The agency in turn supplied it with N9m to fund the project along with two others.

The fund was allegedly mismanaged by those overseeing its implementation, thus slowing its completion.

The matter was reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) by the youths of the community.

Following the commission's reported intervention and additional funding by the community, work on the project resumed this year.

The State government was rumoured to have intervened in the matter thus bringing about the resumption of work on the project.

Sources close to the community leadership however deny the reports.
