A violent windstorm accompanying the late evening rain in Jos yesterday scattered a military base near the National Open University, Sabon Barki.

The storm lasted hours according to a source in the community, Mr. Omorogbe Aimiuwu destroying public and private properties.

Aimiuwu who shared photos of the destructions on his Facebook timeline said the storm pulled down trees and electricity lines, scattering them across the road around the affected checkpoint.

This is not the first time violent storms are occurring in Plateau state this year.

Several lives, farmlands and other properties have been lost to such storms in many parts of the state especially rural areas within the past few months.

While the National Metrological Agency (NIMET) which is responsible for weather and climate forecasts has always warned against floods, hardly are windstorms predicted.
