The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) is to commence mass rallies across the country in support of Local Government Autonomy.

A mailed statement by the General Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress Peter Ozo-Eson says the rally holds Monday August 21, 2017 in each state capital with all members participating.

The movement according to the Plateau State President of the union, Samson Mafuyai is to free the LGCs from 'total' collapse.

"It is not a fight by local staff alone, but by all Nigerians that wish to see development in these tiers of government," he said.

The state union leader noted in an online interview that state governors are against the idea of autonomy.

The union has however vowed to kick out any House of Assembly member that fails to support its implementation, he said.
