A serving commissioner in the Plateau State government, Barr. Jonathan Mawiyau, Monday joined villagers in Daffo, Bokkos LGA in communal repair of roads.

In what appeared to be the most unprecedented action by a public officer in recent years, Barr. Mawiyau, the state's justice commissioner was unmindful of his status ad he rolled up his sleeves and trouser to go into the muds.

Pictures of him shared by some amazed citizens in the village show him carrying a shovel and lifting sand from muddy road.

When contacted, the commissioner said he felt happy joining in the advancement of the community.

As a member of that community, Barr. Mawiyau said that was his own way of showing the people that government was with them in their sufferings.

Asked whether he was concerned about his security as a public officer mingling with people freely, the politician who is also an Evangelist said the level of peace enjoyed in the community and the state at large was enough security for everyone including himself.
