About three persons were Monday night ambushed along Tarai-Vwak Road in Jol village of Riyom LGA, Plateau State, few hours after the Bassa Primary School shooting where about 29 people were killed.

The ambush reportedly followed a meeting by Fulani leaders in nearby Exland village otherwise called Gindin Akwati in Gashish District, Barkin Ladi LGA.

Two of the victims reportedly escaped unhurt following an intervention by the military who were stationed few metres away from the scene of the attack, while one was wounded.

The attack is believed to be a deliberate attempt to distract the Bassa neighbors from wading into the recent violent attacks in the Irigwe communities.

The Irigwe Development Association on Monday afternoon had called for the intervention of other ethnic groups in the state in the recent attacks on its communities.
