The Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris will on Wednesday launch some newly deployed security vans for use by some agencies in the State .

The vans purchased by Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong are meant to strengthen the security architecture of the state in view of recent attacks, an official statement says.

The Statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Dati says the IGP will equally perform the "ground-breaking ceremony" of newly established Police Mobile Force Squadron.

The statement says the event holds at Longvel, Shendam Local Government Area, by 11am.

This ceremony somewhat silences recent public outcry alleging that the Governor cares less about the security of the State.

MKB  had three weeks ago reported efforts by the Governor to curb the persistent killings by suspected herders in the State.

The report quoted the State Information Commissioner, Yakubu Dati as saying 40 hilux vans had been purchased and were to be launched by the IGP.

Some security sources had accused the governor of under-supporting their operations especially in the area of logistics.

The latest efforts are therefore expected to see an improvement in the protection of lives and property by the federal troops over whom governors have little or no control.
