The Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong has been commended for making peace a cardinal objective of his administration. 

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris stated gave the commendation at the Ground Breaking ceremony for the newly established 66 Nigeria Police Mobile Squadron in Shendam and the formal presentation of security vehicles to some agencies in the State.

The IG commended Gov. Lalong for donating a large expanse of land for the project, enjoining others to emulate.

He further appreciated the Plateau state government for equipting the State Command with communication gadgets.

Mr. Idris also charged members of the police force to respect citizens' rights.

Earlier in his welcome address, Gov Simon Lalong paid glowing tributes to the Inspector General for his dedication and commitment to securing lives and property.

Lalong however emphasised the need for intensified vigilance and community participation towards lasting peace.

The comments preceded the performing of the ground breaking ceremony by the IG which followed the hoisting of the Nigeria Police Force flag.

Also preceding was the commissioning of 51 security vehicles one of which the IG personally drove in company of Gov Simon Lalong to the delight of all guests who gave them a standing ovation.
