The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday held a one-day training for 850 volunteers of the Plateau State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society on best communication strategies to resolve noncompliance cases of polio in the state.

The training which targeted volunteers in all the local government areas of the state also aimed to build the capacity of the volunteers on general surveillance of polio and other communicable diseases.

50 participants were drawn from each of the 15 Red Cross Divisions in the state, officials say.

The program which held simultaneously in Jos North, Jos South, Mangu and Langtang North LGAs Chambers as well as Pankshin town PHC Clinic, Kanam Conference Hall and Shendam MDGs Hall was a fallout of a recent roundtable between the Red Cross and the WHO aimed at building synergy for effective service delivery.
