The Social Democratic Party (SDP) aspirant for the Plateau State Governorship seat in the coming 2019 General Elections, John Pofi has blamed yesterday's mob attack on the convoy of Governor Simon Lalong on "serious psychological trauma" resulting from recent violent attacks recorded in the state.

Pofi in a press statement on Sunday said the Governor's weak response to the attacks has further depressed the victims of the attacks, resulting in violent behavior as seen in the convoy attack.

"The People are entitled to their anger seeing the way that the victims of the 23rd of June herdsmen attack in Barkin Ladi LGA were buried without any form of respect or regard, most of them were buried in shallow graves without any form of State burial.

"It will be recalled that over 286 people were maimed, slaughtered, killed with a lot of properties destroyed by the suspected Fulani herdsmen in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Maraban Kantoma.

"These recent incidences have created a serious psychological trauma among many Plateau people.

"They have been pushed to the wall of violence, this is not good enough for the polity," he said.

Pofi, a Pastor of the Living Faith Church however said the attack was the wrong way to resolve grievances, wishing the state acts quick to pacify the psychologically injured citizens.

"Any person sitting on the stool of power represents us and any form of attack on such a person will mean an attack on ourselves," he said.
