The N-Power social investment program of the federal government is said to have achieved huge success in Plateau State due to effective sensitization and mobilization by the media.

Dr. Sumaye Hamza, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Plateau State Focal Person, Social Investment Programme in a chat with newsmen in Jos said public participation in the program has increased over the years through the sustained partnership of the media.

According to her, unlike the second phase, the first phase of the program witnessed a low turnout due to low awareness among citizens.

Only but 3400 candidates from the state were enrolled for the first batch with some Local Government Areas having as low as eight candidates, she said.

With sustained media partnership which was sometimes voluntary and free of charge however, the figure increased to over 8000 candidates for the second batch, the N-Power boss disclosed.

She maintained that the program is meant to make citizens feel the impact of government in line with the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress Party.

"The selection process is seamless and transparent, and has no religious or political inclination," she said.

A total of 8,092 candidates from Plateau State have been selected for the second batch of the Federal Government's N-Power Social Investment Programme.

Of the number, 2672 candidates are for the NAgro category, 4580 for NTeach while 840 are for NHealth, says an earlier statement by Dr. Sumaye Hamza, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Plateau State Focal Person, Social Investment Programme.
