About 12 people were yesterday killed by yet to be identified persons along the road to the Rukuba Military Barrack, Jos, reports say.

Among those killed were nine members of a family and one said to have been shot by soldiers.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the Jos community called Rukuba road, in Central Nigeria's Plateau State at about 8pm, local time, shooting at random.

MKB had sent enquiries to Police authorities as of the time of the invasion, Thursday night but was assured that security detachments had been drafted to the scene.

It was however reported that the gunmen carried out their operation unhindered and left without intervention.

Our correspondent, Williams Gyang who visited the scene of the attack on Friday morning reported that the community has been enveloped by grief and anger.

Authorities are yet to comment on the attack.
