Journalists on Monday narrowly escaped lynching in Jos after youths in last night's attacked community went irate at the sight of cameras.

The youths obviously protesting the frequent reporting of attacks which often result in no action by government first attacked Channels TV cameraman, attempting to smash his camera.

While the cinematographer scampered for safety, the youths ran after him with stones, defying pleas by women and elderly people for restraint.

Other journalists who escaped the violent protests include AIT, TVC, The Telegraph and The Light Bearer reporters.

MKB which was also part of the team noticed a damaged Police vehicle parked by the road while fleeing the scene of the attack.

The villagers went savage following a gun attack that led to 11 deaths as confirmed by Police.

12 people were injured in the attack which occurred at about 2030hrs, at Lapandet Dwei Du Area of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Police Command, DSP Tyopev Terna saud in a statement.

"More security personnel have been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks on the Community," the statement says.

MKB however witnessed heavy security presence about 1000mtrs away from the affected community, obviously for fear of a clash with the locals.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Undie Adie was expected to visit the community as of publishing time.
