The Plateau State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) is set to honour Alhaji Dr. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The award to be presented to Garga and other distinguished personalities on Friday, 7th September, 2018 at the Eliel Events Center, Gold and Base, Jos is said to be in recognition of his salient contributions to the promotion of the journalism profession in the state and beyond.

The LG Commissioner is also said to have earned the recognition as a result of his sterling leadership qualities.

Dr. Garga is thought to be one of the most efficient Commissioners appointed to the grassroots Ministry in recent years.

Aside ensuring optimal performance among the caretaker officials of the 17 Local Government Areas in the state, Garga is believed to have played a remarkable role in the coordination of the activities of traditional institutions in the state.

He is also generally applauded alongside his principal, Gov. Simon Lalong for the recent restoration of defunct traditional stools, upgrade of existing ones and the creation of new stools across the state.

Observers view the award as well deserved considering the Commissioner's courage and humility which are a rare combination of virtues amongst politicians in the 21st century.

He is thought to have shown great commitment to the promotion of the change agenda of the Lalong led APC administration in the state.
