Police in Jos, Central Nigeria are investigating an alleged suicide by a middle-aged man on Thursday.

Mr. Paul Majei reportedly hung himself in his house in Dadin Kowa, a suburb of Jos South Local Government Area for yet to be identified reasons.

Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Police Command, headquartered in Jos, DSP Tyopev Terna reports that detectives arrived the scene after being hinted but found Mr. Majei already dead.

His corpse according to Terna has been deposited at the Plateau State Specialist hospital mortuary, Jos where autopsy is expected to be done.

The incident preceded a reported killing of one in Fangha village of Daffo district in the State's Bokkos Local Government Area, located 60kms south of Jos.

Unconfirmed sources say the gunmen invaded the village for the second time this week on Thursday night, shooting randomly at the villagers.

The suspects are believed to be Fulani herdsmen.

At least eight houses were burntdown in Fangha villahe during similar attacks in March 2018.

The surviving locals claimed the assailants were their "Fulani neighbours".

Some herdsmen were arrested in connection with the crimes but the case has been silent for some time.
