Unconfirmed reports say armed bandits believed to be herdsmen on Monday ambushed and killed three people in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The three said to be two men and a woman were attacked while taking cover in a high speed military convoy near a sparse settlement called Zim in Ropp district, evening.

Multiple sources say the three - natives of Jong and Lobiring villages ran into trigger-ready ambushers on their way back from Barkin Ladi town when the military convoy they were trying to catch for cover sped off leaving them meters behind.

It is not sure if the military personnel in the convoy were aware of their movement or the attack.

However, reports say roads linking villages in Ropp district have been death traps since the June 2018 attacks in Northern Plateau.

Travellers are said to rely solely on military movements to get in and out of the villages.
