Police in Central Nigeria are investigating the kidnap of a high ranking village Chief in Plateau State, Tuesday.

Mr. David Isah, the Second Class Chief of Dorock Kingdom locally referred "the Longdorock" of Shendam Local Government Area was kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen at about 2200hrs, Monday and whisked to an unknown destination, Police authorities say.

A press statement by the Plateau State Police spokesman, Mr. Tyopev Terna says the Police Command in the State "immediately formed a search and rescue team which is working assiduously to rescue the Paramount Ruler unhurt" after receiving the report of the incident.

The Statement says, "On the 19/11/2018 at about 2200hrs, the Plateau State Police Command, Jos received an information that unknown gunmen stormed the residence of "the Longdorock" HRH Engr. David Isah Dongbam, the Second Class Chief of Dorock Kingdom of Shandam Local Government Area of Plateau State and Kidnapped him to unknown destination.

"After the receipt of the information, the Command immediately formed a search and rescue team which is working assiduously to rescue the Paramount Ruler unhurt.

"The Command shall update members of the public as soon as new information crops in please."
