The African International Documentary Festival Foundation says it will sponsor 100 Nigerian documentary filmmakers to its 2019 International Documentary Festival in California, USA.

The foundation on Monday said it was committed to developing the capacity of African filmmakers to independently "tell their own story" for the advancement of the continent.

Director General of AFIDFF, Mrs. Malame Mangzha at the foundation's 2018 Documentary Box Workshop tagged "Africa telling her story" said those to be funded would be filmmakers with outstanding documentaries.

According to her, a documentary competition would be opened towards the end of the first quarter of 2019 to identify such films.

Already, the foundation has a beneficiary, Miss Dorcas Bello who won its 2018 African documentary challenge.

Her victory at the continental challenge, the foundation said has won her an automatic ticket to the US festival.
