The Nigeria Police Force says the ban on the sale and use of explosives and fireworks is still in force in Plateau State.

Consequently, the Force has directed its personnel to arrest both sellers and users of the objects "without delay", Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tyopev Terna said, Friday.

Mr. Terba in the statement advised parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to desist from any acts that "distracts the alertness of all law abiding citizens."

The Force's stance follows concerns over the "indiscriminate" purchase and use of explosives and fireworks otherwise called knockouts and bangers within Jos and its environs since the 1st of December which traditionally flags off Chrustmas celebrations in Plateau State.
