Supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have blocked the main road leading to and from Mangu town where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just flagged off its gubernatorial campaigns.

The party supporters who carry APC posters and brooms, the symbol of the party were few minutes ago seen jumping across the highway shouting "eight eight eight" meaning the incumbent Governor, Simon Lalong must serve eight years before handing over.

Police were seen struggling to calm the protesters obviously to prevent an clashes with the PDP supporters who were still exiting the campaign flagoff venue.

No official comment has been obtained on the development but observers fear a possible escalation.
