The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong of allowing 'complete' return of "widespread unchallenged murder" of citizens across the state.

The Governor it says has "tolerated the reign of terror and the unrestrained flow of blood" since December 23, 2018 leading to at least 14 deaths in different local communities.

Rather than going after the killers, the governor appears carried away by his re-election campaign, the opposition party said in a statement yesterday.

"The APC would rather be more concerned about dancing on the campaign podium than sharing in the grief of the people or taking practical steps to unmask the "unknown gunmen" and bring them to justice," it said in the unsigned statement by its campaign media and publicity committee.

At least six different attacks have occurred in different communities in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas since December 23, 2018.

On New Year Eve, the most deadly attack occurred in Nding Sesut village in Barkin Ladi Local Government area where seven people were reportedly killed and about 300 houses belonging to locals razed by suspected armed herdsmen.

The State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Yakubu Dati had earlier that Monday evening written in a WhatsApp group that State securities known as "Operation Rainbow" had arrived the village when locals sent out SOS.

No reaction has however been received from the government since then.
