A pro-good governance group, Young Politicians Awareness Forum (YPAF) has said the Presidential candidature of Prof Jerry Gana, a former Minister of Information might stall fortunes of the SDP during the February 16th 2019 general elections, because, has not been endorse by the party.

Officials of the group, Sani Mohammed, Chairman, and secretary Mr. Chika ogechuku in a joint press release Friday, made available to Journalists in Jos, Plateau state urged Prof Jerry Gana to stop parading himself as the Presidential candidate of the SDP, and await the outcome of the court of an appeal instituted against him by his rival Donald Duke who was earlier anointed by the party by at a recognised convention as the Presidential candidate of the party.

"We are disappointed with the way and manner Jerry Gana is still parading himself as the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party despite an appeal filled against him by Donald Duke whose elections was nullify by a federal high court which sat in Abuja, December 2018."

The release call on young Nigerians not to support the candidature of Prof Jerry Gana as President of Nigeria; said Prof Jerry Gana is a self acclaimed Presidential candidate, as the party have not anoints him 

"We read in a memo that was widely circulated by the SDP national leadership signed by national executives who told the world that they were not part of the declaration and they are not aware of it as well as asked all the party officials nationwide and party supporters to denounced Prof Jerry Gana's SDP Presidential declaration."

It stressed that, "we were surprised that he went ahead and declared his manifesto as the party candidate which is detrimental to our democracy."

It fault Prof Jerry Gana who earlier sue SDP and it Presidential candidate Donald Duke over results of the party Presidential primaries that produced Donald Duke and his running mate Shehu Gabam "the action of the Gana is counter productive and can only bring doom to our baby party and democracy."

The press text by YPAF text observed with dismay that the likes of Jerry Gana should have play advisory role to the party rather than contest elections with the young generation.

It also said, the group will mobilize against the Presidential ambition of the older general, pointing out that Jerry Gama's quest to rule Nigeria as President was detrimental to the development of young Nigerians.

According to the statement, statistics from INEC, indicates that "Nigerian electorates between the ages of 18 to 35 years are about 40 million out of the 84 million eligible voters, which means more than 50 percent of the voting population in Nigeria."

According to the release, Donald Duke, a former governor of Delta state, has great foresight for picking a young Nigerian Shehu Gabam from the North as his running mate which has balance the federal character quest.

The group's press text described, Shehu Gabam, as the leading young politician in Nigeria, whose ambition is to unity Nigerians for better development.

The group said it will support only political parties that has a combination of young and middle age people as it flag bearers.

"This is our reasons for supporting the candidature of Donald Duke led Presidential aspiration to take over power and we same to any political party be it APC or PDP should any of them has such combination of candidates."
