The Plateau State Peace Building Agency has warned that circulating unverified election results is capable of causing tension and breach of peace.

A statement by its Director General, Joseph Lengman, Sunday describes the circulation of figures purported to be the results of yesterday's elections by some social media users as unpatriotic.

"We are all aware that the conduct of the general elections in our state has so far been relatively peaceful.

"In this light, we must all join hands to ensure that it ends without bloodshed or violence of any sort," Mr. Lengman said.

He therefore called on citizens to desist from publishing fake news and images on the outcome of the elections.

Only the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has the responsibility of declaring valid results, the PPBA boss said.
