Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has been commented for allowing the free flow of democracy in last Saturday's Presidential and National Assembly elections.

A statement by a local pressure group, Plateau Youths of Conscience lauds the Governor's noninterference in the decisions of the Independent National Electoral Commission despite his Party standing in the elections.

The statement signed by the group's President, Mr. Bulus Zet also lauded the firmness of security agencies in maintaining peace in Jos the Plateau State capital.

Governor Simon Lalong had on Wednesday said the delay in the announcement of the National Assembly election results in Plateau North were not his making as insinuated.

A Statement by his Information Commissioner, Yakubu Datti maintained that electoral decisions were not within his jurisdiction and therefore could not have been influenced by him.

A followup statement yesterday after the announcement of the results said the Governor was vindicated.

The State Information Commissioner insisted that "Governor Lalong is the architect of a peaceful Plateau and would not turn round to threaten his good deeds by interfering in a process he is a contestant in and with no control over."
