Police in Jos the Plateau State capital are currently interrogating a 17 year old herder for allegedly stabbing one Miss Salome Mallan, 22 two weeks ago.

Mr. Ibrahim Abdulrahaman was said to have inflicted "grievous injuries" on the November 2019 bride to be, in an attempt to rape her.

Miss Mallan was on her way to a mining site when the suspect accosted her in a dry, lonely stream, demanding sex, it was learnt.

When she resisted, he reportedly pounced on her trying to force his way.

In a bit to escape, Miss Mallan grabbed his genitals while he laid on her with his hands clawed to her throat, it was gathered.

Determined to penetrate the young lady, Mr. Abdulrahaman pulled a 12inch pocket knife and stabbed her several times in the hands before fleeing at the site of passersby.

The victim who had all along yelled for help was rushed to the hospital while the suspect's abandoned herd of cattle was handed over to securities.

Mr. Abdulrahaman was never found until after ten days when his father alerted securities on Monday that he had been sighted at home.

The father, Mr. Abdulrahaman Muhammadu, 60 had pledged to surrender him to police once found.

The Police Divisional Headquarters in Bokkos instantly arrested the suspect and began questioning him, during which it obtained confessional statements as well as the weapon used in committing the offense.

The case was Tuesday transfered to the Central Criminal Investigation Department in Jos where both the suspect and victim were quizzed by detectives.

The suspect is expected to be paraded and subsequently attained at the completion of interrogation.
