Nigeria's National Assembly member, Mr. Istifanus Gyang has been crowned "Living Hero" of Nigerian politics.

Mr. Gyang, a newly elected Senator in the country's Parliament was listed among few Nigerians selected for the "Distinguished Icon Of Leadership" award" by a local nongovernmental organization Citizens Right and Leadership Awareness Initiative.

The award organized in collaboration with Oduduwa Watch News Online aimed to motivate public officers in their services, officials say.

Mr. Gyang, the present member representing Plateau's Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the Nigerian House of Reps, and Senator-elect, Plateau Northern Senatorial District was visibly excited receiving the award.

The lawmaker who was represented by one of his aides, Mr. Friday Bako pledged to continue contributing to humanity and society.

Gyang said, "My 'Positive Impact' (his campaign slogan) agenda is geared towards human capital development, diversity management and societal transformation through people-oriented and result-driven leadership."

Other recipients of the Awards were Baba Gideon Dandam, the Plateau State Coordinator of Fadama III Project, the Management Committee Chairman Riyom LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Danboyi Jugul and Chairman, Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board Prof. Matthew Sule.

Similarly, Hon. Emmanuel Solomon Dung, ex PDP Chairmanship Candidate Jos South LGA and Rt. Hon. Barr. Joshua Izang Madaki, the Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly were awarded the title.
