The African International Documentary Festival Foundation, headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria's capital has commenced shopping for local documentarians ahead of its 2019 international documentary festival in California, USA.

According to information on its official website, documentary filmmakers and journalists in Nigeria and other African States can send a 3mins documentary on 2019 theme for the World Health Day celebration: UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE: EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE to qualify

The theme according to the information "allows filmmakers, documentarians, and journalist to create awareness on the challenges surrounding health care, citing various forms of limitations and creating a balance by laying the importance of better and cheaper health care for all irrespective of race, location or age, thesignificant roles of communities, leaders and social influencers towards a total universal health coverage."

AFIDFF hopes to use the theme to inspire "various creative patterns from documentarians that will also center on a call to change in some traditional, cultural, psychological, policy, religious norms that have created the challenge that has encouraged the limitation to adequate and proper health coverage - the advantages of universal health coverage for everyone in Nation building is key to this theme."

Candidates are expected to attach a title page, description of no more than 250 words explaining the documentary and how it relates to the theme.

This the organization says can or should include how the producer chose the topic, how they conducted the research, how the documentary fits into the category and/or how the project relates to the overall theme of the challenge.

Screening for the entries is expected to hold on the World Health Day - 25TH APRIL 2019: Documentary Challenge on the Theme: Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere.

On the same day, fundraising for Documentary Lab and Unveiling of the foundation's 'Voice of the Dreamer' project will hold alongside flag-off of the continental rounds of the globalDocumentary Challenge 2019.

Later in August – October 2019, the Premier of the Winning Documentaries in the USA will hold.
