Newly elected Senator Istifanus Gyang may have won the admiration of the Nigerian Red Cross Society for consistently donating to the welfare of vulnerable groups in the country.

Gyang, whose tenure in the Nigerian House of Reps ends June 2019 has been listed for a humanitarian award by the Red Cross, it was learnt.

The award to be presented on May 8, 2019 - the World Red Cross Day is according to officials in recognition of Gyang's "selfless contributions to human welfare, especially in communities affected by crisis/disaster."

The Plateau State Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal constituency representative is said to have listed 600 widows, mainly victims of violent conflicts to receive business grants, month end.

The aim is to reduce their vulnerability and give them a means of livelihood, official sources say.

It is one of the numerous humanitarian interventions he has carried out in conflict communities in his State.
