Nigeria's National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is currently installing a Virtual Library at the University of Jos to ease access to information for research and other academic activities.

The project funded by the 2016 TETFund Disaster Recovery Support followed a request by the University authorities after a fire disaster that destroyed its library in 2016.

The proposed digital library contracted to Microban Standard Investment Limited is expected to be powered by solar energy.

NITDA has for years deployed "intervention funds" for such projects across Nigeria, its Director General, Dr. Ibrahim Pantami said during a supervision of the project last week.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako has commended the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for sponsoring the project.
