Gunmen believed to be herdsmen, Saturday kidnapped a female resident of Plateau State Polytechnic quarters, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

Local sources say the attack occurred at about 8:00pm local time, lasting few minutes.

"The abductors fired heavy gunshots, scaring the residents of the institutions who couldn't sleep throughout the night," a local nongovernmental organization tracking such attacks on local communities said.

The Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims in Nigeria said in a social media broadcast on Sunday that the kidnapped lady was alone at home when she was taken.

Armed men believed to be herders three weeks ago kidnapped a Senior Staff's daughter in the same Polytechnic quarters.

She was released at an undisclosed ransom just as the Polytechnic's Chaplain's son - Master Kim Andrew, 11, who was kidnapped last year summer in the same location.

Officials have yet to comment on the latest incident.
