Central Nigeria's Peacekeeping Mission, codenamed 'Operation Safe Haven' has not folded up as rumoured online, Officials say.

The Special Task Force operating in Plateau, Kaduna and Nasarawa States is simply "realigning forces" for better efficiency, its Commander, Major General Augustine Agundi said, Thursday.

"Today, Plateau is achieving almost 85% peace status as compared to similar period last year or the years before.

"It's a great leap and realigning our  forces is very important," the Military Chief told MKB in a telephone interview.

The security outfit according to him is concentrating its operations in local communities where insecurity tends to be high.

Some of its troops are however being sent to other Missions, he said.

"We want to concentrate in the hinterlands where people are helpless while the troops that are not required are being sent to other missions," Gen. Agundi said.
