A scene of the accident in Jos

Jos, Nigeria: A woman in Central Nigeria’s Jos, the capital of Plateau State was Monday crushed to death by a petrol laden truck while trekking to Church.

Mrs. Martha Ayuba (not real name) was torn to pieces at about 5:30pm local time, around Polo roundabout, Jos, with her Bible in her hands.

Mrs. Ayuba had spent the whole day praying in her house, MK gathers.

She was on her way to a fellowship in ECWA Bishara 2, near St. John’s College when she met her end.

The truck driving towards Zaria from the Abuja-Kaduna axis, reportedly lost its breaks and swept two cars and a tricycle after running over the over 50year-old woman.

The accident nearly sparked protests by youths who had had enough.

Several more accidents caused by cargo trucks have occurred around the Polo roundabout with severe fatalities.

Protests at the scene of accident

It took the intervention of law enforcements including armed Special Forces of the Nigerian Army to prevent an escalation.

As of press time, efforts to get officials to comment on the incident had failed.
